‘He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God’ (Psalm 46v10)
Flying solo bath time has just happened, and ‘stillness’ had very little do with it. The hectic climax came with the duo discovering that splashing at the same time as each other is a lot of fun, and very wet in and out of the tub.
The building crescendos of bath time are manageable when put into the bigger context of bedtime being just around the corner. It’s a worldwide signpost for all parents and children that it’s nearly the end of the day. While the days are fun and full with these two, it’s always good to know where we’re at as the day and evening unfolds.
Reading psalm 46 has helped to ground me in the bigger picture this week, as my thoughts and emotions skit from one thing to the next. I love the reality that God is God, He is unchanging and my ‘ever-present help’. I can rest in the knowledge that He’s got me, and us, and all that’s going on. I always know where I stand with the God of the universe who became knowable in the person of Christ. In ‘still’ moments amidst the busyness of life, I love that I know who I am as I know who He is.
